Goddess Sita is one of the most revered goddesses in Hinduism. She was the daughter of King Janaka of Mithila and is therefore also known as Janaki and Maithili. According to Hindu beliefs, she is an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi and the devoted wife of Lord Rama. Her life is beautifully narrated in the Ramayana. During her swayamvara, Lord Rama won her hand in marriage by breaking Lord Shiva’s divine bow. After marriage, she accompanied Rama and Lakshmana during their fourteen years of exile in the forest. During this period, Ravana abducted her and took her to Lanka. Even in captivity, Sita maintained her dignity, devotion, and righteousness. Lord Rama eventually defeated Ravana and brought her back to Ayodhya with honor. The Agni Pariksha symbolizes her purity and unwavering truthfulness. Goddess Sita is worshipped as the ideal wife, symbol of sacrifice, patience, and moral strength.
