Dakshineswar Kali Temple
Location: Dakshineswar, on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, Kolkata
The temple was built in 1855 by Rani Rashmoni, a philanthropist and devotee of Goddess Kali. The main deity worshipped here is Bhavatarini Kali, meaning “the liberator of the universe.” The temple is also closely associated with the spiritual teachings of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Swami Vivekananda.
