According to legend, Maharishi Vedavyasa established this temple after the Mahabharata period. It is believed that he created the idols of Goddess Saraswati, Goddess Lakshmi, and Goddess Mahakali using sand from the Godavari River. The temple is especially famous for the Aksharabhyasam ceremony, where children begin their education.
