Temple Description
Haleshwar Sthan is an ancient and revered Shiva temple associated with the religious traditions of Mithila. According to popular belief, King Videha, identified with King Janaka, established a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva during the Putrayeshti Yajna. The sacred stone Shivling in the sanctum is traditionally believed to be the original Shivling established by the king. The temple is an important pilgrimage site and receives many devotees, especially during Mahashivratri and the month of Sawan.
