Jagannath Temple (Puri)
Location: Puri City, near the Bay of Bengal coast
The present temple was built in the 12th century by King Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. The temple is world-famous for the annual Rath Yatra festival, where the deities are carried in massive chariots through the streets of Puri. The temple is an important center of Vaishnavism and Odia culture.
