Location: Kalighat Area, Kolkata, near the Adi Ganga River
According to Hindu mythology, Kalighat is considered one of the 51 Shakti Peethas where the toe of Goddess Sati is believed to have fallen. The present temple structure was built in the early 19th century and remains one of Kolkata’s most important religious landmarks.
