Temple Description
Maa Ugratara Sthan Temple is an ancient and highly revered Shakti temple located in Mahishi, Saharsa district, Bihar. The temple is dedicated to Bhagwati Tara, worshipped here as Maa Ugratara. According to Bihar Tourism and the Saharsa district administration, the main idol of Bhagwati Tara is considered very old, and two smaller deities, Ekjata and Nil Saraswati, are worshipped on either side of the main deity. The temple is an important centre of Shakti worship and is traditionally associated with tantric practices. Devotees from different parts of India visit the temple throughout the year, while Sharadiya Navratri and Dussehra are particularly significant occasions. During the festival period, a large number of devotees gather here for darshan, prayers and religious observances. The temple is located about 17 kilometres west of Saharsa railway station and holds an important place in the religious and cultural heritage of the region.
