About
Lord Narasimha is one of the most powerful avatars of Lord Vishnu. He appeared to protect his devotee Prahlad and destroy the demon king Hiranyakashipu. The demon had a boon that made him nearly invincible—he could not be killed by man or beast, inside or outside, day or night. To defeat him, Narasimha appeared in a half-man and half-lion form at twilight, neither day nor night, and killed him at the threshold, neither inside nor outside, using his divine claws. He represents divine justice, protection of devotees, courage, and destruction of evil. Devotees worship him for fearlessness, protection, and spiritual strength, especially on Narasimha Jayanti through fasting and prayers.
